Come and celebrate the Old New Year with Menter Bro Ogwr and the Mari Lwyd!
The Mari Lwyd tradition is a New Year ritual which has strong connections with Bridgend County, in particular the village of Llangynwyd, Maesteg. A decorated horse skull is carried from house to house. On arrival at the door of a house, the party challenge the people inside to a battle of rhyming verses called pwnco, in order to gain entry.
The Mari Lwyd will be visiting the Corner House Inn, Llangynwyd on Monday, the 13th of January 2014. The night will start at 7:30 and a folk session will follow. All are welcome to listen, sing or play!
